St. Philip's is an active partner with BP Circle of Friends to help families in a leper
colony in Hyderabad, India. We help provide financial support for the ongoing work of educating, feeding and clothing 93 children and 27 leper patients.
A significant amount of effort goes into improving living conditions in the leper colony, providing education for the colony's children and helping grow the colony's Christian community.
This ministry began back in 1982 when the Right Reverend Prabhudass Babbili had
the vision to help make a difference in the lives of the lepers of Hyderabad. His son Willie Babbali, a member of St. Philip's, stepped in to head the ministry after his father's death.
Willie takes an annual trip to India and we encourage anyone willing, to go with him. For more information on the ministry or to find out how to sponsor a child, contact Mary Hendrix at 214-387-4700 ext. 114.

An excerpt from one of Willie's past trip:
"The leper patients have shed their inhibitions in front of me and are now showing and revealing their wounds and disease in the hope that they may be included in the 365 day a year feeding program that we have in place for 17 of the most desperate patients. With the Lord's help I am able to be his hands and feet to bring relief to these much needy people and can hopefully expand the program in the future."

 | "The most pleasant surprise of the trip was learning that Mateen, one of the students whom we support had come in first place in the District 7th Grade Public Exams conducted by the state. (We are talking about first of among roughly 900,000 students, both private and public school.) Mateen has plans of becoming a doctor." |
| "The sewing coaching center for women is up and running at full strength now. It has been a blessing how easily the center has gotten off to a flying start. Fifteen students train every day under a sewing teacher. There is a graduating class of 10 students every 10 months." | |
 | "We distributed 66 patients with a fine quality pillow and pillow cover along with a nice bed sheet. We believe that one's own comfort and a good night's rest after a tiring day of begging is the most needed item for them right now." |
