| Many of the people from St. Philip's have
been involved in missions to Mexico over the last five years. Texas'
hispanic roots and the proximity of Juarez makes the ministry across
the border an obvious mission focus. Partnering with mission agencies
in El Paso, we are able to make a practical impact in the poorest communities
of Juarez.
The youth in particular focus on Juarez.
In fact St. Philip's first official mission team (July 2003) was a group
of youth who spent a week there partnering with Gateway
Mission Training Center to build a home for a family that lived
in a broken down bus.
We continue to send a team of youth to Juarez
every year to organize a Vacation Bible School program and perform various
community outreach projects. And every year we continue to see the lives
of our youth touched in ways that will forever change them.
Juarez is our youth mission destination, but
it's a great introduction to mission work for adults as well. We are
always looking for adult chaperones, so don't discount this trip if
you are past your teen years!
