| At St. Philip's we believe that God has a bigger vision for youth. He
desires their best - for their happiness and their protection.
Kids matter to God. They matter as much as adults do and so the ministries of
this church are being grown for all ages. One of the most exciting areas
of growth is in the Youth Ministry. What makes it exciting isn't cool music,
or awesome speakers, or lots of food. What makes it exciting is that St. Philip's
youth impact the world. They are involved in leadership and in ministry.
We believe that Youth Ministry means Youth "IN" Ministry. It means challenging
teenagers to step up and use their gifts and their passions to serve Jesus.
They don't have to be spiritual giants or heroes of faith. Every kid has
something to give and when we let them lead they experience the ultimate excitement
- Serving God.
The vision for our Youth includes at four things. We believe the lives of
teenagers can be significantly strengthened when they are allowed to:
- Be used by God to impact the world.
- Have an authentic relationship with a mentoring adult.
- Know the Bible and live it daily.
- Have strong friendships with one another.
There are a lot of ways these things happen.
Serving: Kids are invited to serve in a wide variety of ministry.
Probably the most exciting is in our Nursery
ministry to young children and our Kid's
Club for Elementary age kids. They don't just baby-sit, they lead. Kids
also serve in worship, and in other ministries.
Growing: Every other week we meet for "Youth Group" right
after church. We have lunch, laugh and learn more about God from the Bible.
We are also beginning to form small groups that can grow strong faith.
Playing: Every month we do something fun. Whether it is Whirlyball, or
getting ice cream or bowling or who knows what next. Playing together is an
important part of growing our relationships with adults and one another. Every
event is geared to helping kids connect in meaningful ways. Check out
the Calendar for the next event or just
grab a youth and ask them where to get connected. |
