A New Beginning – A Study in The Gospel Of Mark
Mondays: January 11 – March 29 | 7-8 pm
The Gospel of Mark is considered by most scholars to have been the earliest of the gospels (perhaps written during or at the end of Nero’s rule). Some believe it is effectively Simon Peter’s gospel – dictated to Mark. It is certainly the shortest, at just 16 chapters (and the last one has a controversial ending). It also has a decidedly different message than the other gospels – it contains no virgin birth, no heralds from heaven, no genealogies – instead it focuses on Jesus’ identification as the Son of God whose mission is not primarily focused on teaching or healing, but on sacrificing his life for the salvation of the world. Indeed Mark’s Gospel is actually titled “The Beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” Join us via Zoom in understanding Mark’s message in that title through all 16 chapters (including that controversial ending).
