We’re dedicated to helping children and their families discover God’s amazing love, deepen their faith and share His love with others by providing quality Christian educational programs and opportunities for fellowship and service.
Saturdays 5:00 pm and Sundays 9:00 am and 11:15 am
Ages 4 through 3rd grade
Family worship is an important value at St. Philip’s and children are always welcome in services. Children’s Chapel is offered for children who are 4 years old through those in 3rd grade to help them get the most out of their worship experience with songs, prayers, and lessons just for them!
Here’s how it works:
Families gather together for worship at one of our three services. After the opening prayer, children are invited to follow the Children’s Crucifer to the Children's Chapel space located in St. Philip’s Hall. A member of our clergy or CFM team will lead children in age-appropriate liturgy through music, prayer and Bible story. Before each worship service, parents can select which option works best for their family:
Parents have two options for Saturday 5 pm Service and Sunday 11:15 am Service:
1) Return to Service - At the Peace children return to the Sanctuary to participate in Communion with their family.
2) Stay and Play- For 4 & 5 year olds and Kindergarten students, a Chapel Shepherd takes the children to Room 111 in the Education Building where they play until parent pick up after the service.
Parents have three options for Sunday 9:00 am Service:
1) Return to Service - Child is returned to parent at The Peace for family Communion.
2) Extended Chapel-Parent Pick-up - Child will remain in Extended Chapel until parent picks them up after the service.
3) Extended Chapel-Sunday School - Child and parents are staying for the 10:15 am Education hour, so child will remain in extended Chapel and will be escorted to their Sunday School class by a Chapel Shepherd when it begins. Parents can go straight to their class without re-checking in their child.
NOTE: Parents who wish for their child to go to Children’s Chapel during the service must check-in at the designated area in the Narthex or Education building before the service where the child will receive a name tag for security purposes. If your child isn’t checked-in for Chapel, either electronically or manually, a Chapel Shepherd will return them to you at The Peace.
Some four-year olds aren’t quite yet ready for Chapel, so they are welcome to stay in the Nursery until they turn five.
Parent volunteers are needed each week to “shepherd” these young ones and will be scheduled on a 4-6 week rotating basis. Please contact Sarah Koniar to volunteer or for more information.
Saturdays, 4:45 pm to 6:00 pm and Sundays, 8:45 am to 12:30 pm
6 weeks old through 4 years old
NURSERY CARE is available for children 6 weeks old through 4 years in the Education Building Sundays, 8:45 am - 12:30 pm while parents attend worship and adult Sunday School classes, and on Saturdays, 4:45 – 6:00 pm. Our professional nursery staff is trained to care for all of your child's needs, including any unlikely emergencies that may arise. In addition to CPR and first aid training, our staff and volunteers have completed a background check and a required child safety course, Safe Church - Safeguarding God's Children.
Nursery at St. Philip’s is not just play time! Your child will hear Old and New Testament stories, and we use arts and crafts, games, puppets and music to illustrate our lessons. We also have praise and worship time and they begin to learn the Lord’s Prayer.
For more information about our nursery, including volunteering, please email Jill Scott, Nursery Coordinator.

The IMPACT class will also meet “off-campus” for “extra-curricular” activities throughout the year designed for fellowship and service to others. During Holy Week, they have the opportunity to perform in our Good Friday “Shadows of the Cross” evening service
SPARROWS is our ministry for elementary through high school aged children with special needs and their families. They enjoy Bible stories, games, music, arts and crafts, and wrap up with a snack. The class is staffed by experienced and loving volunteers that include Occupational Therapists, Special Needs Counselors and Special Needs Assistants who work in the school district. The teachers are assisted by trained volunteers who love to serve the special needs community.

Sunday Morning Volunteer Opportunities
Looking for an opportunity to serve, nurture and care for our youngest members? Being a nursery volunteer is for you! Join the children for music and Bible stories, and help them with a take home activity. Volunteers must be ready to have fun!
If you enjoy learning and seeing things through the eyes of children, this is the place for you! Volunteers will assist in checking the children into their classrooms. They will lead the children in Bible story time where together they will imagine and wonder about God. Leading fun activities and games is also included in this opportunity. Volunteers serve in teaching teams that rotate on a two, four or six week basis.
If you love leading kids on a fun exploration of God’s word that includes lots of practical application, you will want to hang out with our 4th and 5th grade students in IMPACT. You can get involved by helping with ongoing service projects, hosting social activities, teaching God’s Word or just hanging out with the kids on Sunday mornings. Volunteers must be willing to periodically attend cool, fun fellowship events such as pool parties, movie nights, and special retreats!
Spend time with precious children who enjoy learning about God. Volunteers are needed to serve on a regular basis alongside a professional in the field of Special Education (either a teacher or an occupational therapist). Training is provided.
