Christ the King
“I’m gonna be a mighty king, so enemies beware…I’m gonna be the main event, like no king was before. I’m brushing up on looking down, I’m working on my roar…Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!” We’re familiar with this popular song from Disney’s “The Lion King”. The disciples must have felt much the same way on the way into Jerusalem – they couldn’t wait for Jesus to be King. But then Jesus pivots, and shows them a different side of what being a King looks like.
What does it mean to be in that Kingship? And how do contempt, conversion and compassion play a role in Jesus’ Kingship?
