Discipled Living – Abiding
In my early 20’s, I was blessed to take a backpacking trip across Europe. After a day of sightseeing in Paris, the “City of Love”, I got on the bus to return to the youth hostel. Waiting and waiting for my stop to be called, I realized I had gotten on the wrong bus – and was forced to get off at the last stop, having no idea where I was. I approached some youth playing soccer to see if they could help me, but they didn’t speak English – and I didn’t speak much French. But one boy brought his English-speaking father over, and he invited me to go home with them. I was trusting enough to go, and ate supper with his family before he took me back to the hostel. I had indeed experienced the love of a stranger that day.
In John’s first letter, he tells us to “abide in God’s love”. What is love? What does it do for us? And how does God’s love abide in you?
