Early Christians had to deal with a lot of difficulties – usually the extremes of persecution, or even death come to mind. But one challenge we seldom talk about is the fact they had to deal with a lot of lying and misinformation about Jesus. Luke even wrote his Gospel to try to counteract the false stories. Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians also addressed correcting the many lies being told about Jesus. In his letter, Paul encouraged Christians to “test everything”. But how do we really do that to see what’s true, and what isn’t?
