Flourishing – Near
“All in all, you’re just another brick in the wall”. After hosting an exchange student from Switzerland for a summer, my family went to visit her. I’ll admit, I had a crush on her – so when she said we were “going on a date”, I was thrilled. Until her boyfriend showed up, along with another couple, making me the fifth wheel. As they chatted in French (which I didn’t speak), totally ignoring me while enjoying their date, I occupied my time watching “The Wall” concert film on tv alone – and my resentment grew. In my mind, I was using these “bricks in the wall” to build animosity between us – much like we use “bricks” to divide us from others.
So what does Pink Floyd have to do with Paul’s letter to the Ephesians? And what walls of hostility have you built up that can be broken down by Christ?
