Gospel Living – Adopted

When telling a friend about some of my college shenanigans, I recalled the story of how some friends and I let loose live chickens in the dining hall of the Chi Omega house at University of Arkansas, and chased them around with big butchers’ cleavers (kids, don’t do this at home). Upon telling him “I wasn’t a Christian then”, he responded “So you were awesome at one time, but now you’re boring because you follow Jesus”.

It’s a common misconception that becoming a Christian is about “giving up things”. When in fact, in becoming Christians we receive an amazing gift – we become adopted children of God. What is the promise of our adoption? What is this experience like? And how can we experience it in our lives today?
