Inner Life of Discipleship – God’s Forgiveness
Growing up, I was known as a “goody goody” kid – you know, the one who never got into trouble. But I had a friend who “lived on the edge”, and one night he convinced a group of us to sneak out and adorn another friend’s yard and house with toilet papered trees, shoe polish, and shaving cream. We thought we had gotten away with it – but a couple of days later we were found out. Ashamed of our behavior, we confessed our sins and asked for forgiveness, going back to clean up our mess. In Psalm 51 David owns his sin and asks for God’s forgiveness. What can David teach us about acknowledging our sins, experiencing God’s love and mercy, and the ultimate restoration of our joy?
