Jesus’ Ministry – 72 Missionaries
During his final phase of ministry in Galilee, Jesus prepared to take his ministry on the road to Jerusalem by appointing 72 others to go before him. These 72 were to go ahead, in pairs, to every town and place Jesus planned to go – appointed by the Lord and given the authority to proclaim in His name, to prepare the way for Jesus’ message. For these “Laborers of the Harvest of God”, the harvest was plentiful. But the laborers – those willing to carry the good news of Christ – were limited.
This Biblical mission model (ministry training, disciple-making, and sending out) is seen throughout the New Testament and the early church. And it still continues today, 2,000 years later. All of us are called to be a part of mission in some way. How are you being called?
