Jesus’ Ministry – Jerusalem and the Temple

It’s a well-known romantic comedy formula – two people meet, they hit it off, they talk all night. The beginnings of true love – or is it? The couple is soon separated by fate, but one realizes the other is truly “the one” – so they trek across the country to declare their love, romantic music swells (maybe “It Had to be You” by Harry Connick, Jr.), and suddenly…”record scratch”. Instead of the wonderful reunion they had imagined, they find their love interest has found a significant other. They chose somebody different.

As Jesus prepared for his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, he experienced his own “record scratch” (Luke 19:41) – the people had chosen someone else to follow. Who, or what else, are you choosing? Career, status, things, or behaviors? How does Jesus’ love allow us to be part of not just “a” love story, but the greatest love story of all?
