Jesus’ Ministry – Patience

Patience. We could all use a dose of it, couldn’t we – either towards others, or from others. In Luke 8:41, we see Jairus, a wealthy synagogue ruler, desperately waiting for Jesus to come to his house to heal his dying daughter. But first, Jesus stops to heal an unclean woman with a chronic disease, who sneaks through the crowd to get close enough to grab his robe. As he waits for Jesus, and is told his daughter has died, Jairus learns an incredible lesson about the challenging, frightening, even maddening patience of Jesus.

Have you felt like Jairus – like the Lord is delaying something in your life irrationally, or wrongly? Or maybe you’ve felt like the woman – who didn’t want to really meet Jesus, she just wanted to “touch and run” for healing. What can we learn from Jesus’ patience? And how can we receive it?
