Life Without Lack: My Shepherd

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” The opening of Psalm 23 is one of the most familiar passages of scripture, and most likely evokes a memory for you – maybe it’s from your childhood, of seeing a beautiful stained glass window portrait of Jesus as the shepherd. Or maybe you remember Psalm 23 being read at a funeral, where it seems to have an almost magical comforting effect on those who mourn. But Psalm 23 is meant to be more than a sentiment or comfort to the grieving – this scripture was originally written by David to be “power words” of confidence, trust and strength. How do we go back and tap into these familiar words, and use them to draw down on the energy they can provide in our daily lives?
