Most of what we know about Pentecost is told in Luke’s version – as the disciples prayed for the Holy Spirit to come, wind rushed through, fire alighted, they had powers they’d never had before, and as a result 3,000 people came to faith that day.
But John had a different perspective on that day’s events. Sometimes we don’t need a majestic, magnificent, disruptive presence of the Holy Spirit – sometimes we need gentleness.
