The “B-Side” of Christmas
Remember 45 records? On one side was a song you really wanted to hear – you played it over and over until the grooves nearly wore off the vinyl. The other side, the “B-side”, was seldom played, if at all because it wasn’t the “hit”.
What comes to mind when you think of Christmas? Probably things like Baby Jesus, joy, and peace. These things are like the “A-side”. But like those 45 records, Christmas has a “B-side”, that’s actually dissonant to the warm feelings the “A-side” evokes. So why should we listen to the “B-side” of Christmas? And how do we find redemption through it?
