What We Believe

The basis of our faith at St. Philip’s can be best stated in the words of The Apostles’ Creed, which is the ancient creed of Baptism. It is used in the Church’s daily worship to recall our Baptismal Covenant.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.  Amen.

St. Philip's Core Values

We believe in God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We endeavor to glorify Him in all we do and grow His Kingdom through our actions, words, and deeds.

We are Christ followers who strive to live lives of Christ-like example. We encourage the potential in others, and challenge, equip and empower them to further the Kingdom of God.

We are a source of belonging that nurtures and grows relationships, strengthens bonds and supports one another as a church family. We seek to build partnerships with and be a light for individuals and organizations in our city and the world.

We show respect, understanding and genuine concern for the needs of all we encounter and demonstrate this through our actions to provide help and hope in Christ.

We act with respect, honesty, and transparency and do not waver in staying true to our word, just as God is to His.

We intentionally create and seek out, opportunities to eternally transform individuals and communities for the glory of God.
